8 Things That Help Me Live My Best Life

Living our best life is something many of us strive for. In my experience, it’s a continuous journey of self-discovery and finding balance in various aspects of our lives.

Through my own experiences, I’ve discovered several tools and practices that have played a significant role in helping me live my best life. Here are eight of them:

1. Daily Gratitude Practice

Taking a moment each day to acknowledge and appreciate the things I’m grateful for has had a profound impact on my overall well-being. Whether it’s through journaling, meditation, or simply reflecting, expressing gratitude helps cultivate a positive mindset and enhances appreciation for life’s blessings. 

Personally, I’ve developed a habit of writing down the things I am grateful for in a dedicated gratitude journal. While there are many wonderful gratitude journals available, I prefer using a simple notebook like this Moleskine notebook for writing down my gratitude. Its practical design and quality make it a perfect companion for my gratitude journey.

2. Time Management

Managing time effectively is essential for maintaining balance and productivity. Using a task manager for different activities and tasks has been a game-changer for me. Specifically, by setting clear boundaries and dedicating focused time to various aspects of my life, I can accomplish more and maintain a healthy work-life balance. My favorite tool for this is Todoist. It’s simple, easy to use and is suited for any type of project.

3. Social Media Curating

Being intentional with social media consumption is essential for maintaining a positive online experience. Curate your social media feeds by following accounts that inspire, educate, and uplift you, while unfollowing or muting those that bring negativity or comparison. As such, I’ve developed a habit of going through the list of accounts I follow every few months or so, and unfollowing the accounts that don’t bring me joy anymore (channeling my inner Marie Kondo). 4. Regular Nature Walks

Spending time in nature has a rejuvenating effect on my well-being. Taking regular walks in the park or forest allows me to disconnect from worries, improve mental clarity, and reconnect with the world around me.

5. Unplanned Adventures

As a natural planner, I have always preferred to have a clear roadmap for what lies ahead. However, in an effort to break free from my comfort zone, I have embarked on a journey to be more spontaneous, and and the results have been great. Embracing impulsiveness makes me realize there are so many more ways out there that I can live my best life. Every now and then, I have allowed myself to indulge in unplanned adventures, saying “yes” to new opportunities and venturing into uncharted territories. Whether it’s a spur-of-the-moment road trip with no set destination or uncovering hidden gems in my own neighborhood, these experiences have led me to exciting discoveries and unforgettable experiences.

6. Creative Outlets

All my life, I have found immense joy in engaging with various creative outlets that align with my interests. Whether it’s painting, sculpting, playing a musical instrument, or writing poetry, these activities not only allow me to tap into my imagination but also serve as a means to express myself authentically. They serve as an outlet, whether I am stressed, inspired or happy. To me, truly living my best life means finding joy in the process of creation and learning new skills. Starting something new can be daunting, but take the leap! Pick a skill and start your journey of learning this month.

7. Mindfulness Meditation

In our fast-paced and often chaotic world, mindfulness meditation has become a vital tool for me. By intentionally focusing on the present moment without judgment, I can reduce my stress, increase my self-awareness, and cultivate a greater sense of inner peace. In fact, mindfulness literally changes the brain for the better. I’ve found that using the Headspace app makes it easy for me to incorporate daily mindfulness practice into my life. It offers many different types of meditations, suited for every moment of the day.

8. Personal Development Books

Books have been a constant source of inspiration and growth in my life. Exploring various genres, including self-help, psychology, and philosophy, has expanded my perspective and provided valuable insights and tools for personal development. Finding books that resonate with you can be transformative and teach you things to help you live your best life. Some of my personal favorites are The Obstacle is the Way by Ryan Holiday, Meditations by Marcus Aurelius, and The Power of Habit by Charles Duhigg.


I am adding this as a bonus, because it doesn’t quite fit the rest of the list, but I have to mention this. Ever since I got this soap dispensing brush it has changed my dishwashing world. I use it for absolutely everything: pots, pans, surfaces, you name it. It doesn’t scratch my delicate dishes and it is super easy to use. I seriously have no idea how I ever lived without it. So much so that I’ve been giving them to my friends and family every opportunity I get and they all love it too. Give it a try, you will never go back.
